New Delhi: Instances of pet dog attacks have seen a massive jump in past some time in the national capital region. Days after an 11-year-old child had about 200 stitches on his face after being attacked by a Pitbull dog, yet another horrifying incident has come up in the Kavi Nagar police station area in Ghaziabad.

Here, a pet dog of the Rottweiler breed bit a youth and severely injured him, resulting in him undergoing surgery. Notably, Rottweilers are considered to be one of the most feared dogs.

Here’s what happened:

The incident took place in the Aditya World City area in Kavi Nagar. A youth named Hemant, who lives in the Luxury Estate Society, had gone out to walk his dog on the night of August 14, when two children of the same residential society were walking their Rottweiler dog in the locality.

For some reason, the Rottweiler abruptly became violent and attacked Hemant, biting his leg and dragging him for at least 22 meters. The dog also took out a concerning amount of flesh from the victim’s leg.

Fortunately, two bike riders passing through the road at the time along with a watchman reached the spot immediately and showed courage while trying to rescue Hemant from the dog.

Due to pain and bleeding, the victim fell unconscious on the spot. Several society members gathered at the spot and tried to reach Hemant’s family.

It was learned that Hemant’s family members live abroad, after which the victim was taken to the hospital with the help of neighbours and residents of the society. According to doctors, Hemant will take one to two months to recover.
