Wrestlers have alleged sexual harassment by the WFI chief while Brij Bhushan said that girls who have levelled allegations belonged to Deepender Hooda’s ‘akhada’.

New Delhi: While India’s top wrestlers continue their protest against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the accused addressed the media and indicated that it is a political protest against him. Wrestlers have alleged sexual harassment by the WFI chief while Brij Bhushan said that girls who have levelled allegations belonged to Deepender Hooda’s ‘akhada’.

He said that 90 percent of the athletes of Haryana and their guardians trust the Federation. He added that the few families and the girls who have levelled allegations belonged to the same ‘akhada’ and the patron of that ‘akhada’ is Deepender Hooda.

On the case resgistered against him, he said that one does not get justice from Jantar Mantar, for that one has to go to the Police and Court. He added that he will accept whatever the court decides.

On politicians supporting the wrestlers’ protest, he said that Akhilesh Yadav knows the truth as they know each other since childhood. He said that 80 percent of the wrestlers in Uttar Pradesh come from the families with Samajwadi Party ideology and while he is in BJP, they call him ‘Netaji’.

After hearing in Supreme Court, Delhi Police registered two FIRs against WFI president over allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation of female wrestlers.

Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Mallik and World Championship medallist Vinesh Phogat are leading the protest on Jantar Mantar.
