GOA: Massive crowd seen at popular beach amid surge in Covid-19 cases (Video)

As per the record released by Health Ministry, around 388 people have been tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Goa.

New Delhi: Our country has been witnessing a high surge in Covid-19 cases with several restrictions or partial lockdown already being implied in several states. However, In Goa a different scenario can be seen all together. A video has gone viral on social media which shows a huge crowd at a popular tourist spot.

Though Goa has seen an influx of a restricted number of tourists since December, revellers arrived in the state for the Christmas-New Year festival season.

According to the police, the high inflow of tourists has raised the Covid-19 positivity rate which crossed 10% on Sunday.

A Twitter user who goes by the name @Herman_Gomes sharing a video wrote, “This is a Royal welcome to the Covid wave. Mostly tourists.”

The video shows hundreds of people walking along the road near Baga Beach in North Goa.

As per the record released by Health Ministry, around 388 people have been tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The new cases added to the tally in the state accounted for 1,81,570 while one death was reported which took the toll to 3,523.

Despite the Goa government imposing tougher restrictions to restrict the spread of the latest variant of the Covid-19, domestic tourists gathered at beaches, pubs, and nightclubs to celebrate New Year.

Besides, the state authorities have issued directives to hotels, restaurants, and casinos to allow guests with valid vaccination certificates and proof of negative Covid test reports.
