The Curlie’s restaurant which shot to national fame after videos of Phogat allegedly being drugged inside the restaurant was to be razed to the ground but got some ‘breather’ by the concerned departments.

New Delhi: Days after the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phogat at Goa’s infamous nightclub Curlie’s, the stage is now set for its demolition for violating the coastal zone guidelines.

The Curlie’s restaurant which shot to national fame after videos of Phogat allegedly being drugged inside the restaurant was to be razed to the ground but got some ‘breather’ by the concerned departments.

Today, with the National Green Tribunal, or NGT upholding Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority’s (GCZMA) earlier order, it is most likely to be demolished.

The GCZMA had in earlier order directed the owners to demolish the beach shack but the latter moved court and got the stay order. The order to raze the structure was first passed by Goa coastal authority in July.

Linet Nunes, one of the co-owners of the shack had moved petition in the Green court, after taking the matter to the High Court of Bombay in Goa and, later in the Supreme Court.
