New Delhi: In Gujarat, a cable bridge on Machchhu river collapsed, leading to the injury of several people. According to the preliminary reports, over 35 people died in the incident. On the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to CM Bhupendra Patel over the phone. Meanwhile, he sought urgent mobilization of teams for rescue operations.

CM Patel also informed everyone on Twitter that he has received necessary instructions and guidance from the system regarding continuous monitoring of the entire situation.

He said that Mr Modi promised to extend all possible help to those affected.

”I’m deeply saddened by the tragedy of suspension bridge collapse in Morbi. Relief & rescue ops are ongoing. Instructions given to arrange immediate treatment of the injured. I’m in constant contact with the district administration in this regard,” said Patel.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed grief over the incident and prayed for the safety of victims on Twitter.

After knowing the tragedy of the incident, PM Modi also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh to the kins of the victims who lost their lives in the incident while the injured ones will receive Rs 50,000.

Congress party shared a video of the people who are coming out of a river in a temporary net way.

Notably, PM Modi came to the state earlier in the day to lay the foundation stone on the C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force.

According to Defence Secretary Aramane Giridhar, the new facility at Vadodara will make 40 aircraft and additional aircraft for Air Force.
