New Delhi: While the counting of votes has begun in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022, parties will be looking to gain a majority in the states. Gujarat Assembly has a total of 182 seats while Himachal Pradesh with 68 seats has a comparatively lower number. Bhartiya Janata Party is currently ruling both the states and Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are trying to make their mark this time.

A party needs to cross the 92 mark to win the elections. In the 2017 Gujarat Polls, BJP won 99 seats to form the government.

How many seats are needed to win the Himachal Assembly Elections?

A party needs to reach the mid-point of 35 seats to win the elections. BJP formed the government in 2017 by winning 43 seats in the state.

In the Gujarat elections, 70 political parties and 624 independent candidates are clashing for victory while in Himachal Pradesh, 412 candidates are battling in the elections. Himachal Pradesh has seen a ‘tradition’ of a tenure for BJP and then a tenure for Congress and on the other hand, Gujarat has been controlled by BJP for the last 27 years.

Bhupendra Patel and Jairam Thakur are leading the BJP governments in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh respectively while they are still the Cheif Minister candidates for the ruling party.

The exit polls

According to Axis My India, BJP is set to win the Gujarat elections once again. It is expected that they will lead to a record-breaking victory with the number of seats somewhere between 129 to 151. Congress is expected to get 16-30 seats with AAP winning just 9-21 seats.

In the Himachal Pradesh elections, there is a tough fight between Congress and BJP. The Axis My India exit poll shows Congress winning the elections 30-40 seats and BJP is predicted to win 24-34 seats.
