New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided not to give poll ticket to any family member of sitting Members of Parliament (MP) or Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the impending Gujarat Assembly elections.

The revelation was made by Mansukh Vasava, BJP MP from Bharuch Lok Sabha seat. In a series of tweets, he said that the party has decided against any ‘favouritism’. He said that the state BJP unit will not give any ticket to family members of sitting MPs or MLAs.

Vasava also revealed that his daughter Pritiben Vasava sought poll ticket for the Assembly election but the same was denied by the party.

He said that he respects party’s decision and will work further to strengthen party’s roots in the state.

“Whatever names are decided by the party, we will work hard to make them victorious. Same goes to other leaders as they all should work for victory of declared candidates,” he said.

The big move is aimed at setting new examples of probity in political life was taken at the Gujarat BJP Parliamentary board meet, which held its Day 2 of the meet to finalize the name of candidates for upcoming polls. The names finalized in the meet will be put before the Central Parliamentary Board for final approval.
