Piles of packets of food and empty wrappers were found inside the house, which was in a state of an absolute mess. The rescue team also found many empty bottles of cleaning solution and sanitizer.

New Delhi: In a bizarre incident, a woman’s paranoia led her to lock herself and her 11-year-old son in a flat for three years in Gurugram.

The woman was so afraid of the coronavirus that she even kicked her husband out of the house as he needed to go out for work. Asking the husband to live separately, the woman cut all contact with the outside world due to extreme fear of contracting covid.

The boy and his mother were rescued on Wednesday after her husband finally informed the police about the bizarre ordeal. A team of medics and police arrived at the apartment early on Wednesday and rescued the mother-son due. Both are sent for medical examination and are under supervision.

Police have released the grisly photos of the apartment in which the mother-son was locked for 3 years.

Piles of packets of food and empty wrappers were found inside the house, which was in a state of an absolute mess. The rescue team also found many empty bottles of cleaning solution and sanitizer.

Usha Solanki, a member of the Child Welfare Committee Member, told ANI that the husband used to buy her groceries and other essential items. The woman didn’t allow the 11-year boy to step outside of the house for 3 years.

As the investigation moves further, the mother-son will be sent for mental health checkups.

This isn’t the first time covid paranoia has got someone to lock herself up. In December 2021, A mother-daughter duo from Andhra Pradesh’s Kuyyeru village locked themselves up for 3 years.

Just like the recent case, the woman refused the entry of her husband into the house.

The husband informed the authorities after he heard them screaming one day.
