Varanasi court on Monday rejected the petition of the Muslim side petition and said the Hindu side’s plea is maintainable.

New Delhi: Varanasi court on Monday rejected the petition of the Muslim side petition and said the Hindu side’s suit is maintainable. In the suit, the five Hindu women sought the right to worship inside the city’s Gyanvapi mosque. It was challenged by the Anjuman Islamia Masjid Committee. However, the court rejected the challenge today.

The next hearing in the case will begin on September 22, said Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi mosque case, while talking to the media. Notably, the order came to form a single bench of district Judge AK Vishvesh.

The petitioner from the Hindu side Sohan Lal Arya said on Twitter, ”Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh | It’s a win for the Hindu community. The next hearing is on Sep 22. It’s a foundation stone for the Gyanvapi temple. Appeal to people to maintain peace.”

Another petitioner from the Hindu side Manju Vyas expressed happiness over the court verdict and said, ”Bharat is happy today, my Hindu brothers & sisters should light diyas to celebrate.”

The ruling is also welcomed by the UP’s Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak. Mr. Pathak also said that our primary job is to maintain peace in the state.

Soon after the Court’s ruling in favour of the Hindu side, a hashtag namely the Gyanvapi case started trending at the top on Twitter. Under the hashtag, many people shared memes and opinions.

It is important to note that the Gyanvapi mosque is located in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi. It is claimed that the mosque was built on the ruins of temples.
