New Delhi: Hanuman Jayanti is one of the most auspicious days for devotees of Lord Hanuman and Lord Rama. The Hindu festival is celebrated with full pomp and show all over the country.

An immortal, Lord Hanuman or Bajrang Bali (as said in Hindi) is the son of Vayu Dev and Anjana Devi. While many consider Hanuman Jayanti the day of his birth, some devotees link it to the day when Hanuman covered his body with vermillion to pray for the long life of Lord Rama.

1. Paritala Anjaneya Temple (Andhra Pradesh)

This spectacular white statue of Bajrangbali surpasses Brazil’s Christ: The Redeemer by several feet. In its glory, this statue of Hanuman as Anjaneya Swami stands as tall as 135 feet.

The statue was installed at the temple top in 2003. It attracts a huge number of domestic and well as foreign visitors.

It is located in the small town of Paritala in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijaywada.

2. Jakhoo Hill Temple (Shimla)

One of the main tourist attractions in the Queen of Hills Shimla, this gigantic statue of Lord Hanuman is nested among clouds at 108 feet in height.

The story of Jakhoo Hill temple is related to Hanuman’s quest of Sanjeevni Booti.

It is believed to be the spot where to took a little rest before proceeding with his search for the miraculous herb for Laxmana.

3. Nalco Temple (Orissa)

This statue of neck-breaking height is situated in the town of Damanjodi in Orissa. With its larger-than-life stature of 108.9 Feet, this Lord Hanuman Statue is visible from any corner of Damanjodi town.

Apart from its height, the regal statue of Bajrangbali features a special Mukut and Gada. The legend of this temple is related to the wrestlers and lord Kubera. It is believed that the Gada was gifted to Kubera.

4. Nandura Murti ( Maharashtra)

This 105 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman is a sight for the sore eyes. Unlike the rest on this list, this one is situated on National Highway 6. This Sankat Mochan Mahabali is made of marble from top to toe. In his classic pose, Nandura Murti holds Gada in one hand and gives blessings to the passersby from his other hand.

5. Sankat Mochan Hanuman (Delhi)

This is one of the most iconic statues in the entire country. You must have already seen it in many Delhi-based movies and TV serials.

Sankat Mochan literally translates to one who takes away threats. This 108 feet tall statue of Hanuman is located right beside Sankat Mochan temple, which is an ancient 17th-century temple built by Maharaja Jai Singh.

The statue replicates the imagery where Lord Hanuman tears his chest to show that Lord Rama and Sita belong inside his heart.
