As part of the initiative, the BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra reached Uttarakhand with the national flag and handed it over to newly elected state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt to mark official beginning of the campaign.

New Delhi: Taking the lead in launching ‘Har Ghar Tirangan’ campaign, the Uttarakhand BJP has set an ambitious target of reaching about 20 lakh homes, where the families would be encouraged to hoist the tricolor to celebrate the completion of 75 years of Independence.

As part of the initiative, the BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra reached Uttarakhand with the national flag and handed it over to newly elected state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt to mark official beginning of the campaign.

Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is a unique initiative launched by the Centre for celebrating the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. As part of the drive, the government has called upon every Indian to hoist the tricolor on their rooftops to mark the 75 years of India’s Independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself advocated for the same and urged the citizens to take active role in celebrating the occasion.

Speaking to media, Sambit Patra said that the Har Ghar Tiranga event will inculcate feeling of nationalism in people. This is not a government event, rather it requires participation of all the citizens. Every citizen should come forward and contribute in making it a success.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently held a meeting with various NGOs & civil society organizations to make the Har Ghar Tiranga a runaway success in the state. The Chief Minister said that about 20 lakh homes will be unfurling the tricolor in their homes. Several NGOs have been roped in for making it a success.

The Chief Minister also urged the residents to change the display of their social media to tricolor and set the stage for celebration of nationhood, from August 13 – 15.

For the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the Centre has also tweaked the flag code which facilitates hoisting of tricolor in homes and removes several restrictions on the usage of fabric used in making of the flag. Timing of unfurling of national flag has also been done away with. As per earlier directions, the flag was to flown form Sunrise to sunset only.
