HATRIC! Health Ministry approves Covovax, Corbevax and antiviral pill Molnupiravir

Modi government approved two more vaccines today and one anti-viral drug to boost the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Delhi:Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday (December) said that it has given approval to Covovax, Corbevax and and antiviral Covid-19 pill Molnupiravir to fight against Coronavirus.

The news was shared by  Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Twitter.

He further said that CORBEVAX vaccine is India’s first indigenously developed  RBD protien sub-unit vaccine which is made by the Hyderabad-based firm to fight against covid19.

With this India has made hatric, as this is Country’s third vaccine.

Sharing details further, he said that COVOVAX will be manufactured by Serum Institute of India.

Antiviral pill Molnupiravir

Molnupiravir is an antiviral drug, will be manufactured by 13 companies in the Country. It has got approval for restricted use under emergency situation for treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and who have high risk of progression of the disease.

He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had led the fight against corona-virus from front.

Earlier, Covaxin was developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) National Institute of Virology. This was India’s  first indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine.
