‘Have been listening one name everywhere…’: Rahul Gandhi questions Centre on Adani row in Lok Sabha

He alleged that the BJP government bent their policies to favour the Adani Group and also contribute to making him the third richest billionaire in the world.

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who recently completed his Bharat Jodo Yatra, came back to Lok Sabha. In a reply to President Doupadi Murmu’s address in Lok Sabha, Rahul raised questions in front of the Union government over the Adani row. He alleged that the BJP government bent their policies to favour the Adani Group and also contribute to making him the third richest billionaire in the world.

Targetting the government over the Adani row, Rahul Gandhi said that during his yatra he heard only one name throughout the country and that was ‘Adani’. He said that the youth questioned how Adani’s net worth jumped to $140 billion from $8 billion since 2014.

Rahul Gandhi added that Adani is capturing businesses from apples in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh to ports and airports in the country. Taking on the Modi government, he said that the relationship between Adani and PM Modi began back in the days when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat.

The Congress MP said that there was a rule of not handing over the airports to the ones without any prior experience, but the government has bent the rules for Adani. He alleged that the Mumbai airport was ‘highjacked’ using CBI and ED.

Talking about PM Modi’s statements at HAL, he said that HAL’s contract of 126 aircraft was given to Anil Ambani. He also said that PM Modi went on a visit to Australia and SBI handed a loan of $1 billion to Adani, then the PM went to Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Power Development Board signed a contract with Adani.

Rahul Gandhi also took on the government on issues of unemployment, farmers and Agniveer, citing these were the issues people were talking about during the Bharat Jodi Yatra.
