Heartfelt condolences pour in as Indian student dies in shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv

Kharkiv is located in the eastern part of Ukraine, which also happens to be most affected by Russian advancement

New Delhi: An Indian student has lost his life in Ukraine’s Kharkiv this morning due to shelling in the area, informed MEA on Tuesday.

“With profound sorrow, we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family,” tweeted Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.

The student has been identified as 21-year-old Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar from Karnataka. Naveen is said to be a fourth-year medical student at the Kharkiv National Medical University in Kharkiv.

Meanwhile, countrymen are stunned to hear the news of the first Indian casualty in Russia-Ukraine war. Social media users are showering their condolences to the family through microblogging site Twitter.
