Second major gold work after 18th century

This is the second major work of gold being carried out in the temple, after 18th century. The temple was ravaged by Mughals and constructed by Indore’s Holkar queen Maharani Ahilyabai in 1977. Maharaja Ranjit Singh had donated one-ton gold, which was used to cover 2 domes of the temple.

Last year, the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor opened new vistas of religious tourism for the holy temple. The project, completed at the cost of Rs 900 crore, was closely monitored by the Yogi government.
