New Delhi: Shah Rukh Pathan, the riots accused who confronted the Delhi Police and pointed gun a Delhi policemen, got parole on Friday. The accused was given a hero’s welcome when he walked out of jail. Videos of his grand welcome in his locality has gone viral on the social media and is drawing big flak.

Shah Rukh Pathan is currently behind bars in a Delhi jail, as court framed charges against him in various cases, from rioting to promoting religious enmity.

The rioter was given four-hour parole last week, on humanitarian grounds, to allow him to meet his ailing father.

The video, dated May 23 is viral on social media, in which he can be seen getting a grand welcome in his locality. Hundreds of supporters & his neighbours can be seen rallying behind him while others can be seen cheering for him while they accompany him to his house.

In another video, Pathan is seen waving to the cheering crowd as police team takes him to police van for return to jail.

Delhi riots

During the North-East Delhi riots that broke out in 2020, many youths engaged in clashes with police personnel as they fanned out to impose curfew to end communal clashes. Shah Rukh was captured on camera pointing a gun at Delhi constable. He was seen flashing his pistol at the police. The incident happened in Jafrabad-Maujpur area. Police had nabbed him soon from Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh and a case was lodged against him.

Communal clashes engulfed several parts of North-East Delhi and claimed more than 50 lives & left over 700 people injured. The riots erupted between February 23 and February 25.
