“If Swati had been their real sister or daughter?”: BJP’s Madhavi Latha slams AAP

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Madhavi Latha said on Sunday that Arvind Kejriwal stands with the man who beats and insults women.

New Delhi: Coming hard on Delhi Chief Minister over the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Madhavi Latha said on Sunday that Arvind Kejriwal stands with the man who beats and insults women.

Madhavi told ANI that the issue is not about a party but about the honour of a woman. “It would have been better if he (Kejriwal) had sat on the road to get justice for Swati, but he is sitting on the road to support the person who has beaten her. Despite having children of his own, he could not have a fatherly feeling. “What would these people have done if Swati had been their real sister or daughter? The issue here is not about the party but about the honour of a woman,” she said.

“In a country where women are worshipped, they are being beaten; who gave you this right? Who has beaten her, your own man, where, at your own house. This will have to be answered. Kejriwal stands with the man who beats and insults women,” Madhavi Latha added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Sunday seized a CCTV DVR from Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

As per the sources, Delhi Police will now retrieve the footage of the DVR with the help of technical experts and then an attempt will be made to analyse the sequence of crime.

Earlier, on Saturday, Kejriwal’s personal aide Bibhav Kumar was arrested for the alleged assault on the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Maliwal.

Maliwal, in her complaint, alleged that Bibhav “slapped” her “at least seven to eight times” while she “continued screaming” and “brutally dragged” her while “kicking” her in her “chest, stomach and pelvis area.”

After his arrest, Bibhav was produced before Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court, which remanded her in police custody for five days.

Bibhav lodged a counter-complaint with the police on Friday, accusing Maliwal of gaining ‘unauthorised entry’ into the CM’s Civil Lines residence and ‘verbally abusing’ him.
