Entrepreneur Vineet Bagaria had allegedly committed suicide due to the fear of a local gangster, after holding the police and administration responsible

New Delhi: In an infrequent instance from Assam, instead of defending his government and administration, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited the family of a Dibrugarh native who allegedly died of suicide after receiving constant threats from a gangster, and apologised for the failure of local administration.

Apart from pulling up the SP, Sarma told the family that he is really ashamed that the Mafia dared to come here despite the presence of police and administration.

“I’ve never been more ashamed”, he said.

Sarma told the media, “It is clear that the district administration has totally failed in this case. This incident has brought me immense pain and should not have happened”.

“I have sought apology in front of the grief-stricken family and also want to apologise before the people of Assam”, he added.

For the not known, 32-year entrepreneur Vineet Bagaria had allegedly committed suicide due to the fear of a local gangster, after holding the police and administration responsible for not protecting innocent citizens against criminals.

According to the reports, the young businessman had hanged himself at his residence on Shani mandir road after recording a video of himself, wherein his last words were, “Maa mujhe maaf karna, ab sehan nahin hota hain (Mom, please forgive me, I cannot tolerate it anymore)”.

Bagaria’s mother told the media that both her husband and son were receiving frequent death threats from their tenant Sanjay Sharma and others.

“We reached to the police and filed a written complaint with requested to provide us security. Not just they never provided us with any protection, but didn’t even considered our complaint,” said deceased’s father Kailash Bagaria.

Every time we receive any new threats from them, I kept informing the police about it, but they never took any action. At last on July 5, I wrote to the superintendent of police, director-general of police (DGP) and chief minister, and even appealed to them on Twitter, but all went in vain”, he further said.
