In 2021, over 1,000 to get LHP flats in UP; PM Modi to lay foundation stone of Light House Project

Light House Projects to be built under the Awadh Vihar scheme located in Shaheed Path, is being implemented in a 34.50 square meter carpet area. Under this, 14-storey towers will be built and 1040 flats will be available to people belonging to weaker sections.

New Delhi: In a remarkable move towards building low cost houses, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Light House Projects (LHPs) in 6 states on Friday at 11 am via video conferencing.

The projects are being undertaken under the Global Housing Technology Challenge (GHTC)-India in 6 states which include – Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Tripura.

In Uttar Pradesh, the ambitious project will be jointly launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. PM Modi is also expected to announce awards in many categories during the launch.

Under the project, 1040 urban poor of Lucknow will get flats of 415 sq ft area each for only Rs 4.76 lakh. The state government has set 1 year deadline to deliver these flats.

The actual cost of this flat will be Rs 12.59 lakh, of which Rs 7.83 lakh will be given as a grant from the central and state governments. The remaining amount of Rs 4.76 lakh will have to be paid by those belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The allotment of the flats, situated at the Shaheed Path under Awadh Vihar Yojana, will be done as per the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and District Urban Development Authority (DUDA). For which, an open lottery will be conducted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate.

The LHP, to be built under the Awadh Vihar scheme located in Shaheed Path, is being implemented in a 34.50 square meter carpet area. Under this, 14-storey towers will be built and 1040 flats will be available to people belonging to weaker sections.

It is to be mentioned that LHP will develop a new pace of construction and with the use of pre-fabricated goods, it will make construction more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Centre will provide subsidy of Rs 5.50 lakh on these flats (1.50 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and 4 lakh under Technical Innovation Grant) while UP government will give subsidy of Rs 1 lakh under PMAY and 1.33 lakh under Technical Innovation Grant (TIG).

Light House Projects

The Light House Projects will showcase the best use of new-age alternate global technologies, processes and materials in the construction sector at such a large scale for the first time in the country.

The houses will be constructed under GHTC-India, which aims to provide an ecosystem for holistic adoption of innovative technologies in the housing construction sector.

State government is promoting the use of new technologies in students, technological institutions, architects, and engineers. New technology is being used in the implementation of the project, which will help to complete the construction work within a year.
