Income tax notice to ex-PM Deve Gowda’s wife, fuming son slams Centre

Revanna, a former state minister, said, “They are issuing notice to my mother. We are growing sugarcane on our land. They should come and see. Have my parents made crores of rupees? Have we purchased any new property? Why is one political party being targeted?”

New Delhi: Chennamma Deve Gowda, the wife of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has received an income tax notice from the I-T department.

The matter is set to spark off political fight between BJP-ruled state & opposition JD(S). Though HD Kumaraswamy has denied making it political but the notice has raised the hackles of opposition party members.

Taking objection to the I-T notice, Deve Gowda’s son and former state minister lashed out at the department & Centre for ‘targeting’ the family. Speaking to reporters, he said that sugarcane cultivation is done on family land for which the I-T department has sent notice.

Revanna, a former state minister, said, “They are issuing notice to my mother. We are growing sugarcane on our land. They should come and see. Have my parents made crores of rupees? Have we purchased any new property? Why is one political party being targeted?”

He further alleged conspiracy angle in I-T notice to family. He said that many people while serving in RTO minted money & then quit jobs to join politics but they never received any notice.

“Why is one party being targeted? This will not last long,” Revanna said.

HD Kumaraswamy -He also informed that I-T notice was issued for family owned land in Doddapura & Paduvalahippe in Hassan district. Tax officials want all details pertaining to our property.

Meanwhile, Revanna’s brother and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has said that the family will not use this notice as a political tool. He said that the family will file adequate reply to the notice.
