New Delhi: On the occasion of 76th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hoisted the national flag and delivered the customary address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi.

Prior to that, he inspected the Guard of Honour which was positioned directly in front of the National Flag across the moat below the ramparts.

# Tricolour balloons were released from the Red Fort, soon after PM Narendra Modi concluded his address on the 76th Independence Day. 

# PM Narendra Modi concludes his Independence Day address with ‘Jai Hind’.

# “PM says, “…Be it education or science, women of the country are at top…Be it sports or battlefield, India’s women are stepping forward with a new capability&confidence. I see immense contribution by women in 25 yrs to come, much more than that in the 75-yr journey..”.

# “Two big challenges we face today – corruption & ‘Parivaarvaad’ or nepotism. Corruption hollowing the country like a termite,we’ve to fight it.We’ve to raise awareness against ‘Parivaarwaad’ to realise strength of our institutions, to take country forward on the basis of merit”.

# “PM Narendra Modi gives a powerful message to the nation to take a pledge to stop disrespecting women”.

“We always remember Lal Bahadur Shastri ji’s slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. Later, AB Vajpayee added ‘Jai Vigyaan’ to this slogan. Now, there is another necessity to add – ‘Jai Anusandhan’ (research & innovation). Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyaan aur Jai Anusandhan”.

# “When we attained freedom there were many sceptics who doubted our development trajectory. But, they did not know there is something different about the people of this land. They did not know that this soil is special”.

# “When we speak of freedom struggle, we can’t forget the tribal community. Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sidhu-Kanhu, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Govind Guru – there are innumerable names who became the voice of the freedom struggle & inspired tribal community to live & die for mathrubhumi”.

# “This nation is thankful to Mangal Pandey, Tatya Tope, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaqulla Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil and our innumerable revolutionaries who shook the foundation of the British Rule”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at Red Fort.
