Indian Yoga teacher sets new world record by performing scorpion pose for 29 minutes (VIDEO)

The Guinness World Records shared a video of an Indian Yoga teacher who set a new world record by performing Yoga in the scorpion positions

New Delhi: People across the world celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21. On the same day, the Guinness World Records shared a video of an Indian Yoga teacher who set a world record by performing Yoga in the scorpion positions and also made the citizens feel proud.

The 21-year-old teacher lives in Dubai and won the Guinness World Records title for holding the position for 29 minutes and four seconds. The video of the teacher, Yash Mansukhbhai Moradiya, performing the Yoga position was shared by the Guinness Worlds Records (GWR) on social media.

Sharing the video, GWR wrote, ”Longest time to hold the scorpion position…29 minutes and 4 seconds by Yash Manuskhbahi Moradiya.”

In the comment box, GWR also wished everyone, ”Happy International Yoga Day!”

Vrschikasana is known as the scorpion pose among people. It is an advanced level of yoga and requires great patience and stamina. In this position, a person has to put their forearms on the ground and arch legs over the head.

Notably, the previous record was of four minutes and 47 seconds.

Talking to GWR, Yash said, ”The scorpion position is all about stability, one needs mental resilience to perform the pose for a long duration.”

”I was not feeling my toes, and my hip and back numbed before feeling so much pain throughout,” he added.

Yash said he started performing yoga at the age of eight and began on a regular basis from 2010. Before attempting to create the Guinness record, he practised for two years for the position.
