New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday announced Isudan Gadhvi as its chief ministerial candidate for Gujarat Assembly elections.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal while addressing a public gathering declared that Isudan Gadhvi will lead the party in upcoming polls.

Before the finalization of name, speculations were already rife about his name. AAP’s state president & Patidar leader Gopal Italia was also in the race for AAP CM face, however, it’s clear now that the former journalist will lead the party’s high-voltage campaign for Gujarat elections.

Yesterday only, the Election Commission announced two-phased elections for the poll bound state. Voters will seal the fate of candidates in less than a month’s time now on Dec 1 & 5.

Gadhvi has very less time on his hand to galvanize & mobilize the party’s cadre and launch a power-packed campaign against BJP government, which has been at the helm for almost 27 years. Though, he will the backing of AAP’s Delhi leadership with its leaders joining the poll trail, bringing together the strong Patidar community votebank will be one of big challenges for him.

Kejriwal-led AAP has already launched blistering attack on the incumbent Bhupendra Patel govt, accusing it of mis-governance & blaming it for people’s plight.

In last few months, Arvind Kejriwal visited the state a couple of times and chaired public programs to develop strong connect with the masses & garner their support in the run-up to Assembly elections.
