New Delhi: Survey operations are being conducted by the Income Tax officials in the Indian offices of the British public broadcaster BBC in both Delhi and Mumbai.
According to reports, certain account documents in the finance department of BBC are being verified.
The BBC Delhi office is located at the national capital’s KG Marg.
If reports are to be believed, during the investigation, the mobile phones of all the employees present in the office were seized and it has been taken away by the Income Tax team.
The computer kept in the finance department was also scanned.
Reports said the devices of the employees and BBC office will be returned after taking their backup.
The IT Survey comes weeks after BBC released a documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi – ‘India: The Modi Question,” which received backlash from several political leaders and supporters.
The Centre had issued directions on January 21 for blocking multiple YouTube videos and Twitter posts sharing links to the BBC documentary on PM Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat when the 2002 riots took place.
