‘It’s Badruddin Shah, not Badrinath’: Maulana faces heat for ‘spreading hatred’ in old video, FIR lodged, arrest likely

The complainant has asked Dehradun police to investigate the case and take action against the Muslim cleric for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu community.

New Delhi: In mounting trouble for Darul Uloom Deoband’s Maulana Abdul Latif Qasmi, an FIR has been lodged against the Muslim cleric for spreading ‘religious hatred’ and offending the sentiments of Hindu community.

The complaint has been lodged by Acharya Jagdamba Prasad Pant at Dehradun Police Headquarters. Police have registered FIR in the case and the Maulana is likely to be arrested soon, said reports.

The Muslim cleric made these offensive remarks way back in 2017 but it got viral again on social media after the complaint of ‘religious hatred’ against him.

Maulana to be arrested?

The complainant has asked Dehradun police to investigate the case and take action against the Muslim cleric for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu community.

In the video, the Maulana said, “Yeh Badrinath nahi Badruddin Shah hain” (it is not Badrinath, it is Badruddin Shah).

He also went on to claim that Hindus should hand over the shrine to Muslims as it originally belonged to them. He also asked the Hindu community to look back into history as merely adding ‘nath’ into the suffix won’t change the facts.

Maulana laid claim to Badrinath shrine in 2017

In the video, the Muslim also went on issue threats to then Uttarakhand government and said that Muslims will take over the shrine if not given to them.

“If it is not given back to us, we Muslims would march to the shrine and capture it”, Maulana could be heard saying in this video.

This video surfaced first in 2017.
