‘It’s been 45 days since Bharat Jodo Yatra…’: Congress leaders question Delhi Police approaching Rahul Gandhi’s residence

They questioned the rule under which Delhi Police is coming to Rahul Gandhi’s residence to question him on an instance from the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

New Delhi: Congress leaders are questioning the validity of Delhi Police sending notice and questioning Rahul Gandhi. Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera gave press statements targeting BJP government for attacking Gandhi. They questioned the rule under which Delhi Police is coming to Rahul Gandhi’s residence to question him on an instance from the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Delhi Police served a notice to Rahul Gandhi, asking for details of the sexual assualt victim who approached him during Bharat Jodo Yatra. Jairam Ramesh said that it has been 45 days since Bharat Jodo Yatra ended and Delhi police are approaching the case after 45 days. He asked that if they are so much concerned why did not they approach him earlier? Ramesh added that Rahul Gandhi’s legal team will respond to it.

The Congress leader said that 16 Opposition parties except TMC are demanding JPC on the Adani issue but the BJP is presenting Rahul Gandhi’s statement in a distorted manner to divert the attention. He even called it dictatorship as the ruling party is not allowing the Parliament to function.

Pawan Khera inquired under which rule is the police coming to Rahul Gandhi’s residence for a matter which got over 45 days back. He also alleged the Centre for sending the police. He added that they are ready to answer the questions as per the rule and citing what happened in Hathras and Kathua, he showed distrust for the police and the government.

While addressing a public meeting in Srinagar, Rahul Gandhi said that he asked a rape survivour, if he should call the police, to which she replied ‘no’ as she feared to be shamed. Delhi Police served him a notice, asking for the details of the girl and approached his residence for questioning.

Rahul Gandhi is also encircled by the controversy over his remarks on the Indian democracy in London.
