Jiah Khan Suicide Case: Netizens react after court acquits Sooraj Pancholi, some call it ‘shocking, unfortunate’

The court could not find enough evidence to hold him guilty as the actor walks away free as the verdict was delivered after 10 years of the case.

New Delhi: Actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was accused of abetting the suicide of his then-girlfriend Jiah Khan, has been acquitted by the Special CBI Court. The court could not find enough evidence to hold him guilty as the actor walks away free as the verdict was delivered after 10 years of the case. However, there was a section of society that was not satisfied by the court’s decision.

Netizens called the verdict shocking and also speculated it was a result of Pancholi’s connections as a celebrity. People also compared it to the Sushant Singh Rajput case and called for a boycott of Bollywood. A Twitter user went on to say that the ‘Bollywood Mafia’ won again.

Jiah Khan’s mother, Rabia Khan, addressed the media after the verdict and questioned that the charge of abetment to suicide was not found, but then how did her child die? She called it a case of murder and added that she will approach the high court to challenge the verdict.

Jiah Khan Suicide Case

Actor Jiah Khan committed suicide in 2013 and was found dead in her Mumbai residence. Her then-partner Sooraj Pancholi was arrested by the Juhu Police for abetment to suicide on the basis of a six-page letter found in her house that was allegedly written by Jiah.

The said letter described their turbulent relationship and was a piece of evidence against Sooraj.

Judge AS Sayyed, while delivering the verdict, noted a paucity of evidence to hold Sooraj Pancholi guilty, hence he was acquitted of the charges.

Note: It is often a case when a celebrity is held accused in a matter, public tends to believe the person to be guilty irrespective of Court’s verdict and evidence. We do not endorse these views.
