JNU clashes on Ram Navami a political conspiracy? BJP’s Amit Malviya draws ‘coincidence’

“Is it a coincidence that on the day Sitaram Yechuri got an extension, comrades in JNU went on rampage, attacked ABVP activists, as if it was a vindication of sorts to see their supreme leader hold on to office for another term? Is Kaveri hostel of JNU their last bastion?”, tweeted Ami Malviya.

New Delhi: The violent altercation between two group of students in JNU campus on Sunday, over non-vegetarian food in Kaveri hostel, has attained political colour. Reacting to the campus clashes, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya drew a strange co-incidence between scuffle & top leader of Left Front.

Amit Malviya claimed that it was the same day when Sitaram Yechuri got extension as CPI (M) General Secretary, when Left students went on rampage in campus and attacked the ABVP students.

The prestigious University came in the eye of storm on Ram Navami and yet again became the epicentre of clashes over differences on religious lines.

Those students belonging to the Left wing ideology alleged that those belonging to ABVP, BJP’s youth wing, forced their way into Kaveri hostel mess and stopped them from consuming non-veg food while the right-wing students claimed that Left students disrupted a religious ritual being performed on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has lodged case against unknown students for fanning violence in the campus and some arrests were also made.
However, direct charge by BJP leader is set to kickstart a political slugfest between BJP & other parties, especially the Left Front as Malviya’s tweet directly blames Yechury’s extension as the reason behind violent spat.

This is not a one-off incident of clashes in JNU. There are other instances when a premier institute like JNU became the centrestage of commotion over their parent’s body ideologies.
