New Delhi: Much like previous instances, the Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) were showered with flower petals at several places including Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

In Muranagar area of Ghaziabad, senior police officials including SDM and ADM came on the streets for ‘Pushpvarsha’ on the Kanwariyas. A long crane was used for showering petals on the Kanwariyas, the video of which landed on social media.

The flowery welcome for Kanwariyas came on the directions of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, who has instructed government employees to facilitate easy & comfortable journey for Kanwariyas.

While the Kanwariyas are being given warm welcome & reception in Uttar Pradesh by providing them food & shelter, the Chief Minister is himself overseeing the preparations. On Monday, the CM Yogi undertook an aerial survey of the Kanwar Yatra via his helicopter.

Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) collect water from Ganga river at Haridwar, Uttarakhand to offer at Shiva temples in their areas as part of the Kanwar Yatra.

Earlier, a program to hail the Kanwariyas with flowers was planned in Saharanpur & Muzaffarnagar. Helicopters were set to shower flower peltas on Kanwar yatris, based on the directives of CM Yogi but it got cancelled due to bad weather.

Those kanwariyas, returning with Ganges water from Rishikesh were to be showered with flower petals on Saturday, on their way back home.
