New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old man has been arrested for attacking a minor girl with acid in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district.
According to reports, the accused threw acid on a 17-year-old girl for rejecting a marriage proposal.
The accused has been identified as Sumanth, a resident of Kurupete in Kanakapura.
Ramanagara superintendent of police (SP) Karthik Reddy said the accused, a mechanic by profession, proposed the 17-year-old girl for marriage but she rejected it.

The Police Officer further said that the girl suffered burns on her face and her eyes had also been damaged due to acid.
The girl has been shifted to Ophthalmic Hospital in Bengaluru after receiving initial treatment at the local hospital.
The accused has been booked under section 326A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
