Karnataka Assembly Elections: CM Bhupesh Baghel distributes sweets, CM Ashok Gehlot credits ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ as Congress leads on 124 seats

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot also tweeted and gave credit to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ for performance in Karnataka.

As per the ECI, Congress was leading in about 124 seats out of the 224 at 12:30 pm. CM Bhupesh Baghel shared a video distributing sweets to party workers. Talking to the media, he called it PM Narendra Modi’s defeat as he asked for votes by keeping himself in the front. On BJP’s politics over ‘Bajrang Bali’, he made a remark saying Bajrang Bali’s ‘gada’ hit BJP’s corruption and they lost.

While Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was on the party’s posters and DK Shivakumar led the local campaign, Ashok Gehlot gave credit to Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Karnataka leg for the early trends. Taking to Twitter, he wrote that the atmosphere after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is visible in Karnataka. He also lauded the leadership of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi.

Gehlot added that the people have chosen development over communal politics and he is expecting the same in the upcoming elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana.

Congress underwent the polls by taking the issues of the ’40 percent commission’ and the inflation in the state which proved to be working in their favour.

The state held the elections on May 10 while the counting is taking place on May 13, Saturday.
