Karnataka police arrests 2 persons over killing of BJP Yuva Morcha leader

Police are investigating the alleged links between the brutal murder and his support for Udaipur Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal. The Yuva Morcha leader had shared a social media post in support of Kanhaiya Lal.

New Delhi: The Karnataka Police on Thursday arrested 2 suspects for their role in the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru. The two accused have been identified as Zakir and Shafiq and are said to be linked to radical Islamist organizations.

Nettaru, the BJP youth wing leader was murdered on July 26 in Bellare of Dakshin Kannada district while he was returning home after closing his poultry shop. He was hacked to death by three-bike borne miscreants who attacked him with a machete.

The killing of BJP youth functionary also triggered protests & tension in many parts of the the Dakshina Kannada district, with many taking to stone-pelting, followed by lathicharge by the cops.

The ghastly murder of Prvaeen Nettaru also sparked protests from the right wing groups & BJP youth wing. Their gheraoing and heckling of state BJP president’s car also went viral yesterday.

Links with Udaipur killing under probe

The police has so far detained 21 people in connection with the killing of BJP youth wing leader and all of them are said to have links with the radical groups including Popular Front of India (PFI) and its political arm SDPI.

Police are investigating the alleged links between his brutal murder and his support for Udaipur Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal. The Yuva Morcha leader had shared a social media post in support of Kanhaiya Lal and questioned Congress government over its appeasement politics. Many right-wing outfits allege that he was targeted & attacked by the radicals linked to Islamic groups like PFI & SDPI .

Nettaru’s mother demands capital punishment for killers

Earlier in the day, the grieving mother of BJP youth winger leader demanded that no action less than death is appropriate for the killers.

“I’m not feeling well. His father is also a heart patient. He was our only son and had planned to build a home for us. Now, who’ll build it?… Culprits should be punished, whoever did this must be hanged,” his mother told press.
