New Delhi: In a concerning incident of moral policing, an interfaith couple was brutally thrashed by a mob of men for allegedly sleeping with each other at a hotel in Karnataka’s Hanagal town of Haveri District.
The accused persons assaulted the victim couple after they broke into the hotel’s bedroom and found them together in a private moment. One of the aggressors even made a video of the said assault and the same is now going viral on social media.

In the viral video, recorded by the accused themselves, a group of at least half a dozen men can be seen breaking into an interfaith couple’s hotel room and thrashing them both for allegedly making out with one another.
The victim woman is seen falling on the floor & trying to hide her face to avoid getting recorded by the offenders who continue to beat her along with the man with whom she was staying in the private hotel room.
While thrashing the man, one of the attackers can also be heard yelling at him saying, “You were sleeping with this girl? huh, you want our girls?”
By the end of the viral clip, the mob of men can also be seen forcefully dragging the couple out of the room while slapping them continuously on the way out.
Victim makes gang-rape allegations against the accused men
Following the assault, the victim woman narrated her ordeal and claimed that after dragging her out of the hotel room, the gang of attackers took her to a secluded place on their bikes where they allegedly molested & raped her. She even claimed that they later carried her to a car where the driver also assaulted her sexually multiple times.
She further disclosed that the mob finally took her to a national highway from where she hopped onto a bus and escaped the situation. Appealing the police to take action against all the accused, the woman then pleaded saying that she wanted all the accused to get punished. Meanwhile, one more video featuring the accused molesting the victim woman by outraging her modesty has also started circling on the internet.

Later, the victim man also opened up about the incident with the media, claiming that the woman (reportedly his wife) was brutally gang raped by the goons. He alleged that the culprits not only abducted his wife but also subjected her to inhumane assault.
Police complaint filed against accused
Responding to the entire series of events, Haveri’s DP Anshu Kumar Srivastava informed that the police will soon initiate a probe into the matter based on viral footage & statements made by the victim couple.
He also revealed that while giving her initial statement in front of Senior police officials at Hangal Police station, the victim woman did not reveal that she was gang raped by the accused. However, Srivastava also added that as she has now come out with these new allegations, the police will initiate the case accordingly.
Meanwhile, reports have it that the cops have already nabbed two accused related to the case and booked them under various sections including, Outraging the modesty of a woman, Kidnapping & more of the IPC 1860 while the pursuit for finding and arresting the remaining accused persons is underway.
