KCR’s BRS party puts up distorted map of India in its banners, draws flak; BJP hits out

Last week, Telangana Chief Minister KCR rechristened his party name TRS to BRS signaling party’s foray into national politics.

New Delhi: Days after Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) announced its decision to go national by renaming itself as Bharat Rashtriya Samiti (BRS), the party has found itself in the crosshairs of political rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The reason behind is its glaring blunder in showing India map in its posters and banners, which remains devoid of certain areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

The posters & banners were recently put up at many cross sections of Hyderabad city to woo voters as party prepares to go national. The BJP took strong offence to distortion of map of India and lashed out at KCR’s party for ignoring nation’s interests and playing politics at the cost of country’s sovereignty.

Launching a direct attack at the KCR, the BJP said that the party was violating the Constitution of India and claimed that it had the blessings of party’s top leadership. BJP MP from Nizamabad Arvind Dharmapuri said that party has removed PoK from the Indian map and by doing so it is supporting Pakistan.

In a searing remark, he asked, “whether KCR was following Hyderabad Nizam who wanted to merge Hyderabad with Pakistan?.”

The saffron party also accused KCR of befooling & betraying the people of Telangana for furthering interests of family at the cost of nation’s interests.

Will KCR’s national gamble work?

Last week, Telangana Chief Minister KCR rechristened his party name TRS to BRS signaling party’s foray into national politics. As this comes ahead of crucial Lok Sabha Elections 2024, political watchers believe that KCR is throwing his hat in the ring and exploring his options as an alternate front under which Opposition parties can close ranks.
