Kejriwal govt splurges taxpayers money on publicity, Rs 500 crore spent in 7 years

AAP govt has drawn wrath of public for ‘doing little and talking more’ but the expenditure has kept on increasing, year after year. Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections, the expenditure peaked up to Rs 200 crore.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government boasts of reducing several project costs and making services more reasonable for Delhites but it has come to light that the Kejriwal-led dispensation has been splurging taxpayers money on its own publicity.

The documents, accessed by Newsroompost.com show the ‘reckless’ expenditure of taxpayers money by Kejriwal for furthering its own interests and building a pro-development image.

According to an ‘Advertisement and Publicity Department’ document, Kejriwal govt has splurged more than Rs 500 crore on its own publicity.

AAP govt also drew wrath of public for ‘doing little and talking more’ but the expenditure kept on increasing, year after year. And, ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections, the expenditure peaked up to Rs 200 crore. Clearly, this speaks volumes about gross mismanagement of public money and its alleged gradnstanding to build a favourable public opinion about the state government.

Notably, ahead of the 2020 Assembly elections, the Delhi government rolled out a series of freebies, public welfare schemes and even extended largesse to even ‘outsiders’ in the city.

The details, which expose the gross misuse and abuse of taxpayers money by the Delhi government, has created flutter in political circles.

BJP leaders have lambasted the Delhi government for spending public money on ‘self-publicity’, alleging that this amounts to corruption.

AAP ex-founders including Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav were also critical of Kejriwal govt’s policies when reports emerged earlier that AAP govt has set aside Rs 500 crore to fund its public campaigns and advertising of government programmes.
