Kerala man arrested for fatally assaulting live-in partner with pressure cooker in Bengaluru

The ill-fated couple had been residing together in a rented apartment in the Begur locality of South Bengaluru for the past two years. Witnesses from the vicinity noted that the pair had engaged in verbal altercations in the past. Authorities also disclosed that the association between the two dates back to their college years.

New Delhi: In a shocking turn of events, the Bengaluru police apprehended a man on Monday in connection with the alleged murder of his live-in partner. The distressing incident occurred in the Begur area of south Bengaluru. The victim has been identified as Deva (24), hailing from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, while the accused, identified as Vaishnav, also from Kerala’s Kollam district, is now under investigation by the Bengaluru authorities.

Providing insights into the incident, Bengaluru South Deputy Commissioner of Police CK Baba revealed, “The tragic episode unfolded in Mico Layout within the jurisdiction of the Begur police station. The two individuals had shared a living space for a couple of years. Both natives of Kerala they were employed in sales and marketing roles. Recent days had seen Vaishnav harboring suspicions about the deceased, leading to escalating arguments. On Sunday, amidst a heated exchange, he resorted to using a pressure cooker, striking the woman while she was cooking. The impact was fatal, resulting in her immediate demise.” The police have registered a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
