Kolkata: 27-year-old air hostess Debopriya Biswas jumped from the roof of her sister’s house, dies during treatment

She sustained severe injuries after falling on the road in front of the house, Police said.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an air hostess committed suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of a building over lack of employment in Kolkata on Saturday, police said.

The air hostess has been identified as 27-year-old Debopriya Biswas.

The victim was a resident of the Metropolitan Co-Operative Housing Society which comes under the Pragati Maidan police station area in Kolkata.

According to the Police, Debopriya Biswas tried to commit suicide by jumping from the four-storey building where her sister lived.

She sustained severe injuries after falling on the road in front of the house, Police said.

Soon she was rushed to the SSKM Medical College and Hospital, where she died during treatment.

The hospital authorities said they soon informed the police and a team from the local police station reached the spot and the preliminary inquiry into the incident had started.

During the investigation, it was found that she was suffering from depression and mental problems for quite a long time due to a lack of regular work for the last two years.

Police registered a case of unnatural death at the Pragati maidan police station in Kolkata.

Police also said that they are investigating all aspects.
