Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election Result 2023: BJP secures a win with clear majority, Congress settles down in opposition

BJP and Congress are going neck and neck in the 2023 MP state assembly election results.

New Delhi: The early predictions of the exit polls turned out to be true as BJP swept the Madhya Pradesh State Legislative Assembly elections by a huge margin.

The battle was evenly poised in the early hours of the trends, but BJP ran away with a win in the following hours to retain their government in the state.

BJP’s women-centric schemes in the state worked as magic for them, making Shivraj Singh Chauhan all but set to become the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the fifth time.

As per the latest reports from ECI, the BJP has won a total of 86 seats and is leading by 78, while Congress has managed to win only 22 seats and is leading by 43 seats. Bharat Adivasi Party also managed to win one seat in the elections.

2018 Election Results

However, in 2018, the Kamal Nath-led Congress was able to get away with victory after winning 114 seats, which was seven more than the second-placed BJP’s 107 seats.

Kamal Nath took oath as the Chief Minister, only to be forced to vacate the seat when 22 MLAs from their party, left to join BJP, making BJP the party with the higher majority of MLAs.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan once again assumed the position of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in 2020.
