New Delhi: The sudden revolt by Shiv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde has plunged the Mahavikas Aghadi government into a major crisis and with Sanjay Raut’s statement, it becomes clear that the political conundrum is only going to worsen.

Sanjay Raut, a key aide of Uddhav Thackeray dropped a bombshell on Wednesday and hinted at dissolution of the Maharashtra Assembly today.

Raut took to Twitter and wrote in Marathi which roughly meant, ‘Journey of political developments towards dismissal of Vidhan Sabha.’

The startling message by Sanjay Raut has triggered a political storm in Maharashtra politics. Speculations has begun over dissolution of the Assembly by evening, paving the way for fall of Sena-led MVA government. Reports also suggest that Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray is likely to put in his resignation papers by evening.

Uddhav will chair a meeting of the state cabinet, in which the matter will be discussed and strategy could be decided.
Meanwhile, Sena rebel Eknath Shinde, along with more than 30 Sena legislators has shifted base from Gujarat to Assam. In a video that circulated today morning, he could be seen with at least 32 MLAs, however he claims support of 40 MLAs including 6-7 Independents.

Till yesterday, Shiv Sena was in denial mode over rebellion hitting its doors but today, the matter seems to have gone beyond control. The party has failed to convince Shinde, who is insisting on breaking the alliance with Congress & NCP and joining hands with BJP again.

This is the first big political imbroglio that Uddhav government finds itself in. If the government falls short of numbers and goes in minority, the Sena chief won’t be able to complete its first term in power.
