New Delhi: The priests of the sacred and renowned Mahakal temple situated in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, demanded the online food delivery app Zomato to remove its latest ad featuring Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan on Saturday.
The advertisement drew sharp criticism and outrage from the people as it allegedly offended the sentiments of the Hindu community.
In the controversial ad, Roshan can be heard saying Thaali khane ka mann tha, Mahakaal se manga liya (wanted to have a food platter, so I ordered it from Mahakaal)”.

The Mahakaleshwar temple, also known as Mahakal temple dedicated to lord Shiva is among the 12 Jyotirlinga in the country and attracts devotees from across the world.
Priests Ashish and Mahesh said that they demand the company to immediately withdraw the advertisement and issue a public apology. They further claimed that devotees inside the temple are served with prasad in a thali, and mocking it as a food delivery outlet is outrageous.
District Collector and Chairman of the Mahakal temple trust Ashish Singh have also been approached by the priests in the matter.
Complaint Filed:
Meanwhile, advocate Vineet Jindal, who is also the president of Antarrashtriya Hindu Seva Sangh has also filed a complaint against Zomato’s founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal and actor Hrithik Roshan for making offensive and derogartory advertisement against Lord Mahakaal.
Mohan Gowda, Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi demands strong action to be taken against Roshan and Goyal so that demeaning ads mocking the Hindu sentiments do not repeat again.
