Major Dhoundiyal will always remain with me: Pulwama martyr’s wife after joining Army (VIDEO)

“I’ve experienced same journey he has been through. I believe he’s always going to be part of my life,” says Nitika Kaul, wife of Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal who lost his life in 2019 Pulwama attack.

New Delhi: Nikita Kaul, the wife of Pulwama martyr Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal paid a befitting tribute to her husband as she joined the Indian Army today.

It was a proud moment for her when she donned the Army uniform for the first time.

Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal was martyred during a ghastly terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama in 2018. The officer was awarded Shaurya Chakra posthumously for his supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Martyred major’s wife got little emotional after joining the force. Recalling the days spent with her husband, Nikita Kaul said, “I’ve experienced same journey he has been through. I believe he’s always going to be part of my life.”

The 28-year-old had cleared her Short Service Commission (SSC) examinations as well as the interview in 2020 and was waiting to join the force. She had passed out of the Officers Training Academy on May 26, this year. On Saturday she was formally commissioned into the Indian Army by Commander of the Indian Army’s Northern Command Lt General YK Joshi.

Major Dhoundiyal’s final farewell shook the nation

Major Dhoundiyal was married for just 9 months before he became the victim of a dastardly terror attack in Pulwama.

But, Major Dhoundiyal’s sacrifice didn’t go in vain. His wife didn’t sit around mourning her husband’s loss, rather she took a brave decision to join the Indian Army and make her husband proud.

Bidding farewell to her husband, Nikita had said, “You said you loved me, but the fact is you loved the nation more. I am really proud. We all love you. The way you love everyone is entirely different because you sacrificed your life for the people who you may have never met, but still you decided to give your life for them. You are such a brave man. I am very honoured to have you as my husband. I’ll love you till my last breath. I owe my life to you.”
