Mamata attacked? CM claims she was pushed by 3-4 men in Nandigram, alleges conspiracy

New Delhi: Amid the electioneering in West Bengal, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged attack on herself during the campaign trail.

Mamata Banerjee has been apparently injured in the ‘attack’. The incident apparently happened while the CM was campaigning in her assembly constituency.

Speaking to reporters, CM Mamata looked little disoriented and also talked of chest pain. The Chief Minister also suffered injury in her leg, which she showed to the media persons during a brief interaction.

‘Staged attack on me,’ alleges Chief Minister

Didi claimed that about 4 men misbehaved and manhandled her. She also told media persons that policemen were not there and it was nothing less than a planned attack and conspiracy.

“There were no securitymen, no local cops, it is a conspiracy against me,” Mamata told reporters.

After the alleged assault, Mamata has cut short his Nandigram visit and has left for Kolkata.

Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh accused Banerjee of doing drama. He said he would demand a CBI probe into the alleged ‘attack’. Trinamool Congress is likely to file a complaint with the Election Commission.

Earlier in the day, West Bengal CM filed her nomination from Nandigram constituency and also visited many Hindu shrines and sought divine blessings for the electoral battle.

The alleged attack raises serious questions on the law & order situation in the state. Yesterday only, the Election Commission removed Bengal DGP Devendra with immediate effect.

Mamata Vs Suvendu in Nandigram

Nandigram is the focal point of the state elections slated to being this month. The Chief Minister has been challenged by her erstwhile aide Suvendu Adhikari, who is now BJP candidate from the seat.

Adhikari had won Nandigram in 2016 on Ms Banerjee’s behalf.

West Bengal will witness eight-phased Assembly polls beginning March 27. The tenure of the 16th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal will end on May 30 this year. A total of 7,34,07,832 voters will choose their representative for the 17th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal.
