West Bengal Govt sets up SIT to investigate the financial irregularities by the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh from Jan 2021 till date.
New Delhi: West Bengal Govt sets up SIT to investigate the financial irregularities by the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh from Jan 2021 till date. SIT will be headed by an IG rank officer – Pranav Kumar IPS.
He will be assisted by three other IPS officers – Waquar Reza, Soma Das Mitra & Indira Mukherjee. The SIT has been asked to submit its first report to the state govt within a month. This SIT will primarily focus on only one thing i.e. checking the financial irregularities of Sandeep Ghosh, the Kingpin of the entire RG Kar fiasco.
According to a report, “The SIT will have the liberty to access any relevant document from govt departments and private agencies required for expeditious completion of the enquiry.”

What is the RG Kar issue?
The state of West Bengal has seen some unprecedented gender violence over the last few days after a resident doctor was brutally raped and murdered after serving a 36-hour duty on August 9.
The semi-naked body of the 31-year-old woman was found on the morning of August 9th in the seminar hall of the RG Kar Medical College. Subsequently, a civic volunteer by the name of Sanjay has been booked behind bars based on circumstantial evidence.
The case was earlier under the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police. But even after 5 days when the case was not solved by the Kolkata Police, sporadic movements started to take place across the city. Everyone believed that the police were complacent and an active accomplice in the entire case. Subsequently, the CBI intervened in the matter on the orders of the Calcutta High Court.
