Man strangles wife of 15 years while his children watch, daughter testifies

New Delhi: In a tragic and deeply disturbing incident, a 37-year-old businessman hailing from Lucknow allegedly committed an act of violence that has shaken the nation’s conscience.

On a fateful Sunday morning, this man reportedly strangled his wife of 15 years to death right before their two young children inside their SUV on the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur. The apparent motive behind this horrifying act appears to be a manifestation of the accused’s profound “inferiority complex,” triggered by his wife’s significant Instagram following, according to law enforcement officials. 

Reports suggest that the victim’s Instagram account, currently locked and private, has piqued the interest of investigators. What has been uncovered so far is that the victim had blocked her husband on the platform, intensifying his feelings of insecurity. The accused harbored suspicions that her growing legion of social media admirers might make physical visits in his absence, setting off a chain of escalating tensions within their marital bond.

Providing deeper insight into the case, Kurebhar SHO Praveen Kumar Yadav shared more details about the unfortunate sequence of events. The couple, seemingly embarking on a journey to Rae Bareli, abruptly deviated from their route and found themselves on the Purvanchal Expressway. The SUV came to a halt near the Muiesh intersection in Sultanpur, becoming the scene of a bitter confrontation between husband and wife.

In a fit of uncontrolled rage, the accused allegedly took the life of his spouse through strangulation, an act that left their two young children traumatized and in tears. Adding a layer of complexity to the case, he then locked himself inside the SUV, closing the door on any immediate answers.

The circumstances took an unexpected turn when a patrolling team from the UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority) noticed the vehicle in a suspiciously parked state. Acting promptly, they raised the alarm with both UPEIDA and the nearest police station, setting in motion a series of actions that would eventually uncover the chilling truth behind the locked doors of the SUV.

As law enforcement officers reached the scene, the couple’s 12-year-old daughter came forward with a heart-wrenching revelation – that her own father had committed the unspeakable act of killing her mother. Based on her testimony, the accused was apprehended by the authorities, shedding light on yet another devastating example of domestic violence and its deeply traumatic repercussions, particularly on innocent children who became eyewitnesses to their own mother’s tragic demise.
