Martyred ‘Agniveers’ to be offered Rs. 1 crore compensation: Lt Gen Anil Puri

Lieutenant General Anil Puri said we have decided to offer Rs. 1 crore compensation to ‘Agniveers’ if he sacrifices his life in service of the nation. 

New Delhi: Amid the protest against the new Agnipath scheme, Lieutenant General Anil Puri said we have decided to offer Rs. 1 crore compensation to ‘Agniveers’ if he sacrifices his life in service of the nation.

Puri added that the ‘Agniveers’ would get the same allowance in the areas like Siachen and other areas which are applicable to the regular soldiers serving at present.

It would reduce discrimination issues in service, he said.

The government also issued a Seva Nidhi Package for Agniveers.

1. On completion of 4 years of service-  Approximate 11.7 lakhs including contribution & interest.

2. 30% monthly emolument to be contributed by Agniveers and equal matching amount contributed by the Govt.

3. Income Tax Exempt

Talking about the selection process, Lt General said, ”Every individual will give a certificate that they were not part of protest or vandalism. Police verification is 100%, no one can join without that.”

It is clear that any who has any FIRs lodged against them will not be able to join the force.

It is reported the first batch of Angiveers’ will be inducted by the first week of December 2022. Vice Admiral Dinesh said, ”From November 21 this year, the first naval ‘Agniveers’ will start reaching the training establishment INS Chilka, Odisha.”

By this scheme, males and females can join the force.

The second batch of 40,000 ‘Aginveers’ will be inducted around February 2023.

On the registration process, Air Marshal SK Jha said, ”We will start Agniveer batch number 1 registration process from June 24 and from July 24, phase 1 online examination process would start.”
