Mass murder in Dehradun: Man slit throat of 5 members of own family including wife and daughter

There has been a stir in the Doiwala administration as the police have launched an investigation into the matter

New Delhi: A sensation of shock and dismay spread through the capital city of the hill state Uttarakhand as news of a mass murder in the Ranipokhari region surfaced on Monday morning.

Mahesh Tiwari, a resident of Shanti Nagar reportedly killed all five members of his own family including his mother, wife, and children. The local police have taken the accused into custody.

There has been a stir in the Doiwala administration as the police have launched an investigation into the matter. SSP Dalip Singh Kunwar and DIG Garhwal Karan Singh Nagar Naganyal also reached the amid fear amongst residents in the area.

An official told that the accused named Mahesh Kumar is in police custody and is being interrogated.

47-year-old Mukesh is said to be a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Banda and has been living in the Naga Gher area for several years now.

Here’s what happened

Mahesh slit the throat of 3 of his children along with his wife and mother, while the incident was reported to the police after neighbours witnessed blood splattered on the floor of the house.

The police found 5 blood-soaked bodies of the victims lying on the ground on the crime scene.

The victims consist Mukesh’s mother Beetan Devi (75), wife Neetu Devi (36), and daughters Aparna (13), Annapurna (9), and Swarna (11). The Police are yet to make an official statement in the matter.
