Meet Sanjeev Arora, the industrialist-philanthropist, who is AAP pick for Rajya Sabha from Punjab

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced name of industrialist & philanthropist Sanjeev Arora as one of its 5 picks for the Rajya Sabha.

Sanjeev Arora ‘Sunny’ is a Ludhiana-based businessman who runs ‘Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust’ and is also actively involved in charitable work for past 15 years.

The 58-year-old industrialist is the chairman & MD of Ritesh Properties & Industries Limited, which runs about 18 firms across the country. The company, started off by his father Pran Arora, dealt in garment & knitwear. When Sunjeev Arora took over the reins of company, he diversified the company into many arenas including real estate, housing, industrial & commercial sectors. His company primarily exports goods to the USA, and has an office in Virginia.

In 2006, after his foray into real estate, the name of his company was changed from Ritesh Industries Ltd (RIL) to Ritesh Properties and Industries Ltd (RPIL). In 2018, he entered women garment business by launching Femella brand while in 2019, he ventured into non-ferrous metal business, Teneron Limited. It went on tie-up with Suzuki Motors under the Make In India scheme.

The iconic Hampton Business Park and Hampton Homes at Ludhiana’s Chandigarh Road have been conceived & developed by his firm.

Sanjeev Arora has also invested heavily in philanthropic activities and has contributed immensely in fight against Cancer. As his both parents died of cancer, the industrialist set up ‘Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust’, in 2015, in their memory. So far, 160 cancer patients have been treated free of cost for over last 15 years.

The trust provides free treatment to needy cancer patients. He was also honoured by former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh for philanthropic activities in 2018.
