MMS Video Leak Row: Chandigarh University closed till Sept 24th; 2 arrested, 1 detained

The students’ protest erupted in the campus on Saturday as well as on Sunday over the University’s alleged ‘leaked objectional videos’ row.

New Delhi: Chandigarh University will remain closed till September 24 after massive protests by students demanding action on the alleged leak of objectionable videos from its girls’ hostel.

After the incident a few students were seen leaving for their homes.

The students’ protest erupted in the campus on Saturday as well as on Sunday over the University’s alleged ‘leaked objectional videos’ row.

So far two accused have been arrested and one has been detained in connection with the matter.

The Chandigarh University administration have also suspended the girls’ hostel warden Rajvinder Kaur for misbehaving with the girls students.

According to the reports, the hostel warden who can be seen in the viral video confronting the arrested girl who has been accused of allegedly sending the videos to her boyfriend outside the university, reportedly didn’t inform the police about the matter immediately.

It has also been said that the warden allegedly scolded the girls when students started the protest in the hostel campus.

Meanwhile, the police said only four videos have been found in the phone of the accused woman student herself. She had sent all her videos to her boyfriend in Mohali, said a top police officer Navreet  Singh Virk.

The police officials also claimed that no suicide attempt were made at the university.

Before the protest ended on Sunday late night, the protesting students at the Chandigarh University have refused to accept the police findings.
