Mukherjee Nagar fire: Shocking clips of students ‘jumping for life’ emerge, latter share their ordeal (VIDEO)

New Delhi: Students jumped out of windows on Thursday as a fire broke out at a teaching center in the Mukherjee Nagar neighborhood of northwest Delhi. Eleven fire trucks responded to the scene, and rescue efforts are ongoing to put out the flames.

According to the initial reports, the fire broke out at 12.30 p.m., and in a video posted by the fire service, persons, mostly students, can be seen being rescued by firefighters via the windows. People can be seen escaping using wires in a viral video after a fire broke out inside an educational facility. So far, no fatalities have been reported.


The incident was reported at 12.27 p.m., and 11 fire tenders were dispatched, according to Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Incident Service.

One of the students shared the ordeal of how they have jumped via windows using wires for life. “Everyone were in panic while climbing down from the third floor of the coaching centre using wires. There was a little stampede where few students got injured. However, everyone have been rescued from the buliding,” said Shobhit, one of the student who was present at the coaching centre.

“The fire started because of an electric meter, and it has now been extinguished.” The incident resulted in the injuries of four students. “The fire was not that large,” said Atul Garg, the fire director.

“A few students got hurt while fleeing the building where a fire broke out today.” There is no one trapped within the building. The fire originated in the electrical metre of the building. “Panic caused by rising smoke,” claimed Suman Nalwa, Prosecutor General of Delhi Police.

The firefighting operation is continuing, and the source of the incident remains unknown, according to officials.
