NCP MP Supriya Sule’s saree catches fire during an inauguration event in Hinjawadi (WATCH)

The NCP leader’s saree caught fire while garlanding the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during an inauguration event of a karate competition in Hinjawadi.

New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule’s saree caught fire during an event in Maharashtra’s Pune. She later informed that there she was safe and there is nothing to worry about. The NCP leader’s saree caught fire while garlanding the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during an inauguration event of a karate competition in Hinjawadi. A video of her saree accidentally touching the lamp kept on a table surface on the internet.

In a statement, Sule said her saree accidentally caught fire at the inauguration event. She added that the fire was doused in time. She asked all her supporters and well-wishers not to worry as she is safe.

Sule is on a tour of Baramati and will attend some events at different places in her constituency. Her office issued a statement and said that she herself put out the fire and continued with her engagement in the event.

Sharing about the event on Twitter, Sule wrote about the importance of staying fit and healthy. The event was also attended by Sagar Sakhare, who talked about the significance of yoga and exercise.

She also attended the Road Safety Week event organised by the traffic police and PD Foundation at Hinjawadi in her Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency. The public awareness programme also featured a street drama. Sharing about the event, Sule wrote about the importance of following the traffic rules for avoiding accidents and loss of life and money. Mulshi taluka president of NCP Mahadev Kondhare was also present at the occasion.
